Publication Ethics
Journal of Applied Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Technology (JACEIT) is a scientific publication that presents research findings in the field of Computer Science and Technology that have not been previously published. This scientific publication ethics statement applies to all parties involved in the journal publication process, including managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors.
This publication ethics statement is based on the Regulation of the Head of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) No. 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. The core principles of this ethical guideline are:
- Neutrality, meaning freedom from conflicts of interest in publication management;
- Fairness, meaning granting authorship rights to those who are entitled as authors; and
- Honesty, meaning freedom from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Chief Editor:
- Determining the journal name, scope, publication frequency, and accreditation when required;
- Appointing members of the editorial board;
- Defining relationships between publishers, editors, reviewers, and other parties;
- Respecting confidentiality for researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers;
- Implementing regulations regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright;
- Reviewing journal policies and communicating them to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers;
- Establishing ethical guidelines for editors and reviewers;
- Publishing the journal regularly;
- Ensuring funding availability for journal sustainability;
- Developing collaboration networks and journal promotion;
- Improving journal quality continuously;
- Preparing licensing and other legal requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities of Editors:
- Providing feedback to authors to improve clarity and readability of manuscripts;
- Ensuring proper language standards and journal formatting compliance;
- Continuously improving publication quality;
- Upholding freedom of expression objectively;
- Issuing corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary;
- Ensuring manuscripts do not contain SARA content or harmful material and coordinating controversial content with the editor-in-chief;
- Receiving and responding to complaints from all stakeholders involved in journal publication;
- Supporting education on publication ethics for researchers;
- Avoiding conflicts of interest that may affect objectivity;
- Encouraging authors to improve manuscripts until publication-ready;
- Performing layout editing according to journal templates;
- Assisting the editor-in-chief in final manuscript preparation, especially language, formatting, and layout.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers:
- Providing objective and unbiased scientific feedback on manuscript quality and contribution;
- Evaluating clarity, completeness, relevance, and suitability for the journal scope;
- Avoiding personal criticism;
- Maintaining confidentiality of manuscripts and not sharing information with unauthorized parties.
Duties and Responsibilities of Website Administrator:
The Website Administrator is responsible for managing the journal website. Specifically, the responsibilities include:
- Setting up the journal website;
- Configuring system settings and managing user accounts;
- Registering editors, reviewers, and authors;
- Managing journal features and workflows;
- Monitoring and reviewing statistical reports.
