Author Guidelines

The Journal of Advanced Vocational Information and Communication Technology (JAVICT) publishes original research articles, review papers, and survey papers in the field of vocational and applied Information and Communication Technology (ICT) . Manuscripts submitted to JAVICT must provide clear and meaningful scholarly contributions, demonstrate appropriate technical or methodological rigor, and show clear relevance to vocational education, applied engineering, industry practice, or applied ICT .

Originality Requirement: Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal or conference.

General Information

Fundamental requirements for manuscripts

JAVICT publishes original research articles, review papers, and survey papers in the field of vocational and applied Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Manuscripts must provide clear and meaningful scholarly contributions, demonstrate appropriate technical or methodological rigor, and show clear relevance to vocational education, applied engineering, industry practice, or applied ICT.

Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal or conference.

Manuscript Preparation

Document format, layout, and manuscript length

2.1 Format and Layout

Manuscripts must be prepared using the official Microsoft Word template and formatted as follows:

2.2 Manuscript Length

Original research articles

Page limits include all content, including figures, tables, references, and appendices.

Manuscript Structure

Required elements of the submitted manuscript

3.1 Title

The title should be concise, informative, and specific, clearly reflecting the content of the manuscript.

  • Font: Cambria, 16 pt
  • Style: Bold
  • Alignment: Centered

Avoid abbreviations, symbols, and formulas where possible.

3.2 Author Information

Provide the following information for all authors:

  • Full name (no academic titles)
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Country
  • Corresponding author’s email address

3.3 Abstract

The abstract should succinctly summarize:

  • Research background and objectives
  • Methods or approach
  • Key results
  • Main conclusions
The abstract must be 150–200 words and should not contain references, figures, or equations.

3.4 Keywords

Provide 3–5 keywords that reflect the main topics of the manuscript and support indexing and discoverability.

Main Sections

Recommended organization of manuscript content

Original research manuscripts should generally include the sections listed below. Review and survey papers may adapt the internal structure where appropriate to the study design, provided that the manuscript remains methodologically transparent and logically organized.

Introduction Clearly describe the research background, problem statement, objectives, and significance of the study. The introduction should position the work within the relevant literature.
Methods Describe the research design, methodology, algorithms, experimental setup, data sources, and analysis procedures in sufficient detail to support evaluation and, where applicable, reproducibility.
Results and Discussion Present the results clearly and systematically, supported by figures and tables where appropriate. Discuss the findings critically in relation to existing work and practical implications.
Conclusion Summarize the main findings and contributions of the study. Indicate limitations and propose directions for future research where relevant.
Acknowledgment (optional) Acknowledge individuals, institutions, or funding agencies that contributed to the research but are not listed as authors.
Author’s Note (if applicable) Provide additional remarks relevant to the research or publication context, if necessary.
Authors’ Biographies Include a brief biography for each author (Cambria, 12 pt), summarizing academic background, current affiliation, and research interests.
References List all cited sources in accordance with the IEEE referencing style.

Headings, tables, figures, and equations

5.1 Headings

Headings must be applied consistently throughout the manuscript.

5.2 Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1).
  • Each table and figure must have a clear caption and be referenced in the text.
  • Ensure that figures are of sufficient resolution and readability.

5.3 Equations

  • Use Microsoft Equation Editor or MathType.
  • Number equations sequentially and align numbers to the right, e.g., (1), (2), (3).

Citations and References

IEEE citation and reference requirements

JAVICT follows the IEEE citation style.
  • In-text citations should use numbered references in square brackets, e.g., [1], [2]–[4].
  • When author names are mentioned narratively in the text, et al. may be used for works with multiple authors where appropriate, while the corresponding numbered citation must still be provided (e.g., McDonnell et al. [1]).
  • The reference list should:
    • Be ordered according to citation sequence
    • Use Cambria, 12 pt
    • Be single-spaced
    • Follow IEEE formatting requirements consistently

Ethical Considerations

Responsibilities related to research and publication integrity

7.1 Originality and Plagiarism All manuscripts must be original. JAVICT uses similarity-detection tools as part of its editorial screening process. Similarity reports are evaluated contextually, considering the source, extent, pattern, attribution, and nature of textual overlap. Substantial inappropriate overlap may result in requests for correction, rejection, or further ethical review.
7.2 Conflicts of Interest Authors must disclose any financial, personal, professional, or other relationships that could reasonably influence, or be perceived to influence, the research or interpretation of results.
7.3 Data Availability Authors should retain research data and, where appropriate, be prepared to provide supporting materials upon reasonable request for verification purposes, subject to applicable ethical, legal, privacy, confidentiality, or contractual restrictions.

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening for scope, quality, originality, methodological adequacy, and ethical compliance.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening may proceed to peer review in accordance with JAVICT's peer-review policy.

Editorial Decision

Authors will be notified of the editorial decision through the online system and applicable journal communication channels.

Possible editorial decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
