Author Guidelines

Writing Guide

The following are the paper writing guidelines for Journal of Applied Computer Science and Technology (JACOST) published by the consortium Indonesian Society of Applied Science (ISAS). Authors are fully responsible for the content of their manuscripts, and manuscripts must not have been published before [1]. References are numbered sequentially, starting from 1, 2, 3, and so on.

Title

Title Written in Times New Roman 15pt (Max. 12 Words, in Indonesian, Not Bold)

Author1, Author2
1Department, Faculty, Institution
2Department, Faculty, Institution
1emai1@isas.or.id, 2email2@isas.or.id*(mark for the corresponding author)

The title must be clear, concise, brief, and informative, representing the content of the article, with a maximum of 12 words, in 15pt font, not bold, and with only the first letter of each word capitalized.

Author names are written clearly without academic titles. All authors' e-mail addresses are shown; if the corresponding author is not the first author, an asterisk (*) may be added after the corresponding author's e-mail.

Abstract [Times New Roman 10]

The abstract must summarize the background, research objectives, methods, findings, and main conclusions of the paper. The Indonesian abstract is justified and placed after the English abstract, single-spaced in one column. The word “Abstrak” as a heading is written in Times 10-point, bold, left-aligned, with the first letter capitalized. The abstract text is written in Times 9-point, single-spaced, up to approximately 250 words. After the Indonesian abstract, write 3 to 6 keywords/phrases of the manuscript, followed by the main text of the manuscript.

Keywords

Keywords consist of 3–6 words/phrases, preferably a subset of the manuscript title, separated by commas.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts follow this structure: 1. Introduction, 2. Research Methods (may include analysis, architecture, the methods used to solve the problem, and implementation), 3. Results and Discussion, 4. Conclusion, 5. Acknowledgments (if any), and 6. References.

The introduction answers the following questions [2,3]: (1) the background, (2) a brief literature review of related research, (3) the rationale for the research, and (4) the research objectives. State of the art, gap analysys and novelty should be clearly shown here. Avoid discussing general literature reviews and definitions.

Research Methodology

Describe the preparation methods and characterization techniques used. Explain them briefly but accurately, including size, volume, replication, and procedures. New methods must be described in detail so that other researchers can reproduce the experiments, while established methods can be described by citing references [4-6].

Manuscript Length

Manuscripts are written on A4 paper with a minimum of 6 pages excluding references, and a maximum of 15 pages including tables and figures, with 6pt spacing between paragraphs, following the writing conventions set out in this guide.

Results and Discussion

Present the research results in a logical order so that they form a story. Show the facts/data without discussing them here. Tables and figures may be used, but do not repeat the same data in figures, tables, and text. Subheadings may be used to clarify the description.

The discussion explains the fundamentals, relationships, and generalizations shown by the results, and answers the research questions. If any results are questionable, present them objectively.

Manuscript Layout

The easiest way to lay out the manuscript is to use this guide directly. In general, it is recommended not to use numbering (1, 2, 3, a, b, c, etc.) in the body of the manuscript; turn them into sentences instead. Avoid using Bullet/ordered lists with symbols such as *, √, and others. Avoid leaving blank parts of pages.

So that thesubmitted manuscript can be processed promptly by the editor, make sure it is well written and carefully follows this guide.

Tables

Tables must be numbered in order of presentation (Table 1, etc.). Table captions are placed above the table and centered (center justified), neither bold nor colored. Use 8pt font for both the table caption and the table content. Tables must be referred to in the text. Tables must not contain vertical lines.

Figures

Figures are numbered in order of presentation (Figure 1, etc.). Figure captions are placed below the figure and centered (centre justified). Use 8pt font for figure captions. Figures must be referred to in the text.

Equations

Equations are written clearly using the equation editor and given an index number; explanations of the variables are written as paragraphs, not as an item list.

Program Listings

Program listings and algorithm designs are written in Lucida Console (8pt), a fixed-width font.

Page Specifications

Use Times New Roman throughout the manuscript, with the font sizes shown in this writing guide. Line spacing is single and the text is justified (justified). The page size is A4 (210 mm x 297 mm). Page margins are 25 mm at the top, bottom, left, and right.

The easiest way to write a manuscript is to write it directly in the journal template.

Conclusion

The conclusion must not contain references. It presents the facts obtained and answers the research problem or objectives (it should not be a further discussion). State possible applications, implications, and appropriate speculation. If necessary, give suggestions for further research. Write the conclusion as paragraphs, not in the form of numbering.

Acknowledgments (if any)

Name the funders and the providers of facilities who supported the research.

References

Reference management tools such as Mendeley/Zotero are recommended. Every item listed in the references must be cited in the manuscript. A minimum of 10 primary and recent references (from the last 5 years). They are written in 8pt font using the IEEE citation style.
