Author Guidelines

  1. Manuscript Preparation
    Manuscripts should be formatted in a single-column layout on A4 paper. The margins must be set as follows:
    1. Top margin: 2.0 cm
    2. Left, right, and bottom margins: 2.5 cm
    3. The manuscript must be prepared using Microsoft Word, single-spaced, with Cambria font, size 12 pt.
    4. Manuscript length:
      1. Original research articles: maximum 15 pages
      2. Review or survey papers: maximum 20 pages
    5. Authors should follow the detailed formatting instructions provided in the JAVICT formatting guide: JAVICT Formatting Guide.
  2. Manuscript Structure
    The manuscript should be structured as follows:
    1. Title
      The title should be concise, informative, and written in bold Cambria 16 pt, centered.
    2. Author Information
      Include the full names, affiliations, and country (or countries) of all authors, as well as the corresponding author’s email address.
    3. Abstract
      The abstract must summarize the research background, objectives, methodology, key findings, and conclusions within 150–200 words. No references should be included in the abstract.
    4. Keywords
      Include 3–5 keywords to enhance searchability and indexing.
    5. Main Sections
      The manuscript should contain the following sections:
      1. Introduction: Describe the research problem, objectives, and significance of the study.
      2. Methods: Explain the research design, algorithms, experimental setup, and data acquisition process.
      3. Results and Discussion: Present findings with detailed explanations and critical analysis. This section may include subsections and sub-subsections as needed (e.g., Formatting Equations, Citation and Referencing Guidelines).
      4. Conclusion: Summarize key insights and propose future research directions.
      5. Acknowledgment (optional): Recognize contributors, institutions, or funding sources.
      6. Author’s Note (if applicable): Provide additional remarks related to the research or publication.
      7. References: List all cited sources following the IEEE citation format.
      8. Authors’ Biographies: Include a brief biography for each author (Cambria, 12 pt).
  3. Formatting Guidelines
    1. Font & Spacing: Use Cambria 12 pt, single-spaced, with fully justified text.
    2. Tables & Figures: Must be numbered consecutively (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1) and clearly referenced in the text.
    3. Equations: Use Microsoft Equation Editor or MathType and number equations sequentially (e.g., (1), (2), (3)).
    4. Headings:
      1. Title: Bold, Cambria 16 pt, centered.
      2. Main section heading: Bold, Cambria 12 pt.
      3. Subsection heading: Bold, Cambria 12 pt.
      4. Sub-subsection heading: Italic, Cambria 12 pt.
      Headings should be applied consistently throughout the manuscript.
  4. Citation and References
    1. The journal follows the IEEE citation format.
    2. Citations in the text should appear in square brackets, e.g., [1], [2]–[4].
    3. For works with three or more authors, use et al. in the text when mentioning the authors (e.g., McDonnell et al. [1]), and list all required authors in the reference list according to IEEE style.
    4. The reference list should be formatted in IEEE style, single-spaced, with Cambria 12 pt font, and ordered according to the citation sequence in the text.
  5. Ethical Considerations
    1. Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be original and free of plagiarism. The journal uses plagiarism detection software.
    2. Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their research.
    3. Data Availability: Authors should be prepared to provide supporting data upon request to verify the results.
  6. Submission Process
    1. Submission: Manuscripts should be submitted via the online system: JAVICT Submission.
    2. Review Process: All submissions undergo a single-blind peer review process.
    3. Acceptance Notification: Authors will be informed of the editorial decision (acceptance, revision, or rejection) via the online system and email.
  7. Article Processing Charge
    The Article Processing Charge (APC) for the Journal on Advanced Vocational Information and Communication Technology (JAVICT) is IDR 0.00, meaning there is no fee for manuscript submission, processing, or publication.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

The Journal of Advanced Vocational Information and Communication Technology (JAVICT), published by the Indonesian Society of Applied Science (ISAS), is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of all users of this journal website, including authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and registered users.

Collection of Personal Data

JAVICT may collect personal information provided by users during registration, manuscript submission, peer review, editorial correspondence, and other journal-related activities. This information may include names, email addresses, affiliations, countries, usernames, ORCID iDs, reviewer interests, submission metadata, and other information necessary to support the editorial and publishing process.

JAVICT will take reasonable measures to protect user data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or misuse. Personal data will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties for commercial purposes. Access to user data is limited to authorized journal personnel and system administrators who require such access for legitimate journal management and publication purposes.

Disclosure of Information

Certain information, such as author names, affiliations, article titles, abstracts, keywords, references, and published article metadata, may be made publicly available as part of the scholarly publishing process. Reviewer identities will be handled in accordance with the journal’s peer review policy and will not be disclosed publicly unless explicitly permitted by the journal’s editorial policy or the reviewer.

System Logs and Cookies

This journal website may collect technical information such as IP addresses, browser information, access times, and system logs for security, maintenance, troubleshooting, and statistical purposes. Cookies may be used to support user login sessions, website functionality, and journal system operations.

Data Retention

Personal data and submission-related records may be retained as long as necessary to support editorial management, publication records, indexing, archiving, research integrity, and legal or administrative requirements. Published article metadata may be retained permanently as part of the scholarly record.

User Rights

Registered users may access and update their profile information through the journal system. Users may also contact the editorial office to request correction, clarification, or deletion of personal data, subject to editorial, archival, legal, and publication record requirements.

Third-Party Services

JAVICT may use third-party services related to scholarly publishing, indexing, digital object identifiers, archiving, plagiarism checking, and website management. Such services may process article metadata or limited user information where necessary to support journal publication and dissemination.
