The availability of high-quality forage and an efficient supply process are crucial factors in boosting livestock farming productivity. In Village X, grass chopping is still largely performed manually, a process that is time-consuming. This study aims to design and develop a livestock grass chopper with a capacity of 130 kg/hour, determine a suitable transmission system, and calculate the required motor power to ensure effective and efficient machine operation. The study employed a development research methodology, utilizing experimental and engineering design approaches. The machine was designed using a Honda GX160H gasoline engine with a pulley and V-belt transmission system. Production capacity was calculated based on the ratio of the chopped material's mass to the processing time Design results indicate that achieving a capacity of 130 kg/hour requires an engine speed of approximately 2,200 rpm. Calculations show an actual motor power requirement of 2.69 kW; a design power of 4.10 kW (5.5 HP) was selected, providing an adequate safety factor for machine operation. The pulley and V-belt transmission system effectively transfers power, and the Honda GX160H engine meets the operational requirements of the grass chopper. It is concluded that the grass chopper design, with a capacity of 130 kg/hour, meets the technical requirements for small- to medium-scale livestock operations. The designed machine has the potential to improve forage supply efficiency, reduce time and labor requirements, and produce more uniform chopped grass, thereby supporting livestock productivity.
