The growing use of electricity has not been accompanied by adequate awareness of electrical safety among elementary school children, increasing their vulnerability to electrical accidents. This community service programme aimed to enhance students’ understanding of electrical energy and safe electricity use in Paya Besar Village, Ogan Ilir Regency, Indonesia. The programme involved 26 elementary school students and was conducted in April 2025. The activities comprised a preliminary survey, educational material development, interactive lectures, demonstrations, simulations, discussions, and activity-based evaluation through observation. The results indicated that participants were able to identify various sources of electrical energy, recognise potentially hazardous electrical installation conditions, and demonstrate an understanding of safe electricity use. Active student participation was also observed throughout the learning activities. In addition, the programme produced simple educational materials to support teachers in delivering follow-up lessons on electrical safety. These findings highlight the value of interactive and practical learning activities in introducing electrical safety concepts to children. Similar programmes should be implemented continuously in other elementary schools to promote electrical safety awareness and foster safe electricity-use habits from an early age.
